The Windsor

Classic in-frame traditional

The Windsor is our most traditional kitchen and, in many ways, our most crafted. Its in-frame construction sets each door and drawer within a solid framework, exactly as the finest fitted furniture has been built for centuries. The result is a kitchen with real presence and a sense of permanence.

In-frame cabinetry is more demanding to make and to fit, because every door must sit precisely within its frame with a consistent shadow gap all the way round. That precision is what gives the Windsor its quality feel — it looks and closes like a fine piece of furniture rather than a flat-pack cabinet. Decorative options such as beaded frames, curved end panels, plate racks, dresser units and a freestanding-look island let you build a kitchen with genuine character. It is a design that suits period homes across Tameside particularly well, from the stone cottages above Mossley to the handsome Victorian villas of Ashton-under-Lyne.

Why homeowners choose it

What makes the Windsor special

The Windsor is for homeowners who value craftsmanship and want a kitchen that feels rooted and timeless. It is an especially sympathetic choice for older and period properties, where a modern slab kitchen can feel out of place.

Authentic in-frame build

Doors set within a solid frame for a furniture-quality finish and a satisfying, solid close.

Period detailing

Beading, cornice, pilasters, plate racks and dresser units to add character.

Hand-painted or timber

Choose a painted finish in your chosen colour or a natural, oiled timber.

Statement islands

Freestanding-look islands and furniture pieces for a relaxed, characterful layout.

Belfast-ready

Designed to work beautifully with a Belfast sink and classic brassware.

Make it yours

Worktops, handles & finishing touches

The Windsor is only the starting point. Every kitchen we fit is tailored with your choice of worktop — from hard-wearing laminate to premium quartz, granite, porcelain and solid timber — chosen to suit both your look and your budget.

From there we help you coordinate handles, taps, sinks, splashbacks, lighting and appliances into one cohesive design. Our planners think about the details that make a kitchen a pleasure to use every day: deep pan drawers, clever corner storage, larders, bins and recycling, and task lighting exactly where you need it.

Good to know

Windsor kitchens — frequently asked questions

What is the difference between in-frame and standard Shaker?

A standard Shaker door sits over the front of the cabinet; an in-frame door sits within a solid frame fixed to the cabinet. In-frame is more traditional, more precise to fit and generally sits at the premium end of the range.

Is the Windsor only for old houses?

Not at all — many people choose it in modern homes to add warmth and character. That said, it is the most sympathetic choice for period and stone properties.

Can I have painted and wood together?

Yes. Mixing a painted perimeter with a natural timber island or dresser is a classic Windsor look and something we plan regularly.

Does in-frame reduce storage space?

The frame takes up a little more room than a standard cabinet, but our designers plan the layout carefully so you keep generous, usable storage throughout.
